Durie Tangri scored a complete victory for its clients Invasix Inc. and InMode MD Ltd. in a patent infringement case brought by Syneron Medical Ltd., a competitor in the medical aesthetics industry.  On September 28, 2018, the United States District Court for the Central District of California granted Invasix Inc. and InMode MD Ltd. summary judgment that all 54 asserted claims of all four patents asserted by Syneron are invalid.  The court also granted a motion to exclude the opinion of Syneron’s damages expert Roy Weinstein in its entirety on multiple grounds, finding that the errors in his opinion were of a “compound, integral, and fundamental nature” and that his opinion “demonstrates a lack of respect for some of the most fundamental precepts of patent damages calculation.”  The Durie Tangri team included Sonal N. Mehta, Ryan Kent, Tim Saulsbury, and Andrew Perito.  The case is Syneron Medical Ltd. v. Invasix, Inc., Case 8:16-cv-00143-DOC-KES (C.D. Cal.).
