Durie Tangri Wins Landmark Ninth Circuit Copyright Case

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently handed down a decision in UMG Recordings, Inc. v. Augusto in favor of Durie Tangri client Troy Augusto.  The court ruled that the sale of UMG promotional CDs did not constitute copyright infringement, upholding the “first sale” doctrine.  The case was argued by Joe Gratz, with Mike Page and co-counsel from the Electronic Frontier Foundation on the brief.   Please click here to read the decision.
