Durie Tangri Wins Federal Circuit Appeal

April 26, 2013

In CEATS v. Continental Airlines, Durie Tangri represented Ticketmaster/LiveNation and most of the airlines in the country in defending on appeal a jury verdict of invalidity in a patent troll suit filed in the Eastern District of Texas.  The patent covered online seat selection; we showed that Expedia was doing the same thing more than a year before the patent was filed.

The Federal Circuit affirmed the jury's finding that CEATS's patent was invalid.  The decision was 3-0 in our favor on most issues, with a partial dissent by Judge Schall on one issue.  Read the full opinion here.
