Vera focuses her practice on intellectual property litigation and has extensive experience in patent, copyright, and trademark law. She has represented a wide range of technology companies in high-stakes patent infringement cases in jurisdictions throughout the country, focusing on software, telecommunications, and Internet technologies.
Vera began her legal career as an associate at Greenberg Traurig where she represented numerous Silicon Valley companies in several patent infringement cases involving smartphone software. Prior to joining Durie Tangri, she served as a Staff Attorney, and later Senior Staff Attorney, at the Electronic Frontier Foundation, where she focused her work on patent policy. Vera received her law degree from Harvard Law School, where she served as an Article Editor of the Journal of Law and Technology and as the co-head of the Canadian Law Students Association. Before law school, Vera received her B.Sc. in Mathematics, with distinction, from Mount Allison University, where she also worked on coding several applications related to database systems and designs.
When outside the office, Vera enjoys traveling and trying new restaurants with her husband Billy.
