Michael A. Feldman

B.A., Stanford University, Political Science and Music, Science, and Technology, 2007

J.D., Stanford Law School, 2011

Michael’s passion for intellectual property evolved from the synthesis of his disparate passions for theater, technology, and the law.

He attended Stanford as an undergraduate where he studied political science and music technology. Undeterred by receiving a diploma and being sent on his way, Michael returned to Stanford for law school where he worked with both the Fair Use Project to help clarify and extend the boundaries of fair use in copyright, and the Three Strikes Project to reduce the excessive sentences resulting from the “Three Strikes and You’re Out” law. He also wrote, produced, and directed the Law School Musical.

Michael began his legal career at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York City representing clients such as Liz Claiborne, Lucky Brand Jeans, and Weight Watchers in trademark and false advertising matters. He has also worked in the in-house legal departments for Lucasfilm and Marvel Entertainment on copyright and licensing issues. Prior to joining Durie Tangri, Michael served as a law clerk for the Honorable Douglas P. Woodlock of the District of Massachusetts.

Outside the office, Michael has developed a national reputation as a sleight-of-hand magician, having performed in an off-Broadway show in New York, at the world-famous Magic Castle in Hollywood, and for Crystal Cruises around the world.
