James's interests converge at the intersection of intellectual property law and technology.  He has worked extensively on patent litigation and trade secret cases relating to various industries, including from commercial spaceflight and LEDs to cloud-computing and online gaming.

Before joining Durie Tangri, James was an associate at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, where he represented Samsung in multiple patent infringement cases involving smartphone hardware, software, and design.  He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania Law School, where he served as Research Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review and also as a member of the school's selective Supreme Court Clinic.

Outside of the law, James enjoys target shooting, hiking, and attempting traditional Chinese cooking.
